Arctic air blast forecasted in Vancouver

Hey all. There's a blast of arctic air forecasted for Vancouver that's due to send the temperature to incredibly unseasonably cold weather here - one report said something like -10 C with the windchill.

There are a lot of homeless people here. Please pray that those who have no warm home to go to would at least find a temporary place to escape the cold... homeless people in this city aren't used to temperatures that go much below freezing, and I feel like the danger to them is real.

Those who have no one to pray for them, may the Lord God remember in His Kingdom...

Lo! How a rose e'er blooming from tender stem hath sprung,
Of Jesse's lineage coming, as seers of old hath sung,
It came a flower bright, amid the cold of winter,
When half-spent was the night.

Isaiah t'was foretold it, the rose I have in mind,
With Mary we behold it, the Virgin Mother kind,
To show God's love aright, she bore to us a Saviour,
When half-spent was the night.

O flower whose fragrance tender with gladness fills the air,
Dispel with glorious speldour the darkness everywhere,
True man, yet very God! From sin and death He saves us,
And lightens every load.

Oh dear. The people that have the least always suffer the most from natures cruel hand. I'll keep them in my prayers. We have the same problem over here. God Bless the people who work as volunteers helping the homeless. Hopefully our governments will find better solutions at some point.

Praying for the homeless and others who will suffer from the cold. Count your blessings, and give a blanket.

Blessed be God in the works of His people.

One of my dear friends who is a pastor has his church going out and buying -12 C - rated sleeping bags at Mountain Equipment Co-op and donating them through a couple of folks the church knows on the street. Obviously it would be preferable to house people permanently, but at least this way folks won't freeze to death.

Glory to God!

"If you cannot find Christ in the beggar at the church door, you will not find Him in the chalice.

- St. John Chrysostom
