Hm... That might cut off some of the options I was considering :/.

Oh well, hard to ship a Lexus, anyway.

Lee, if you want to run it, I will defer to you .

.

Well, I don't want anyone to buy me a '59 Paul again this year. A '69 LP Deluxe (gold top, of course) would be perfectly fine. After all, it's the thought that counts, right?

I'd like to join.

I just don't know the stipulations. Can we request our SS be domestic rather then international? Price limit? Can hand made items be given rather then just store bought? Do we make a list of what we'd like given to us, or is it random items?

You can probably request that, as it was sort of set up that way last year. Price limit is around $10 or so. Handmade would probably be okay (but a roll of toilet paper is probably not okay), but don't quote me on it. It's usually random items, with a little thought put in.

This.

I feel pretty certain that a domestic vs. international accommodation would be made if someone needed it. Handmade items, like Ben said, would also be fine and would actually probably be cooler than most stuff one can just buy .

You can definitely request that! The items you receive are not necessarily random, but they are totally at the discretion of your Secret Santa, but you can give some info on what you like/dislike, t-shirt size, etc. if you want. We usually do $10-15, and handmade gifts are totally acceptable/encouraged and are a great way to participate if you're on a tight budget and can't spend the money. Just avoid giving a tube of chapstick when you know you're likely getting something thoughtfully handmade or in $10-15 range (that really happened to my mom once.)

If you are shopping online, sometimes you can save on shipping if you have the item sent as a gift directly to your recipient. I did that last year with Ben Toast's t-shirt from ThinkGeek and it saved me from having to pay to ship it to both myself and him.

Sounds like a good cut-off to me.

It's only mid-October. Do we need to cut it off this soon? Last year I tried to get in during Nov but missed the cut-off date. I imagine there might be other procrastinators who don't get their Christmas shopping done two months early.

The cut-off would solely be to sign up for it -- not for actually sending out gifts. I propose that gifts should be sent absolutely no later than the 18th of December (the Friday before Christmas) so that it will arrive around the time of Christmas at latest .
