HTC One (m8) Problems

So I've had this phone for a little over a year, and the past couple weeks I have noticed an odd trend. I had two separate cases for the phone: an Otterbox and a Spigen, using the Spigen most of the time. Around two weeks ago I started to noticed my phone wouldn't complete calls (but I could receive them), and I wasn't receiving texts either. I'd have to throw the phone into airplane mode and off again, or reboot it in order to get the texts. I eventually took the case off to see if I could see anything and realized that without the case it worked normally again (or basically). The Otterbox does the same thing, although perhaps to a lesser extent. My questions:

1. Does anybody know if a case could do this?
2. If so, why now after 10 months of solid use of the same case?
3. Could this be due to the latest update?

If there's no moral law, there's no good. If there's no good, there's no evil. What is your question?" ó Ravi Zacharias

Could be software related, could also be that something happened and your antenna isn't working as efficiently as it used to.

It's more likely software related. The only way to be sure is to see if there are any new updates or factory reset.

It's not likely, but the case may be causing issues with the antenna too. The iPhone 4 had a lot of reception issues if people held it a certain way.
