Free version of Pro-Tools?

Yuuuuuuup....

It's only 16 tracks but it's there... Pro Tools | First

The other guitarist in my band has a full Pro-Tools license, but I think I'm just going to record it on my work mac and then transfer the files and go have mixing sessions at his house where we both work on it.

I don't use more than 5 or 6 tracks at a time, so that oughta work perfectly!

I don't have time to check now...is there a Linux version?

I don't think so. Also, I learned just that it only supports 4 simultaneous inputs, looks like I'll be using something else to capture the inputs. Maybe the full version.

16 tracks and four inputs would be fine for me. I wonder how this compares to the version of cubase I got with my external soundcard.

Probably mainly depends on if you like Cubase or Pro-Tools More.

I lack a strong opinion either way. I use cubase because I have it. I don't think I'm so invested in it that I wouldn't risk switching DAW.

Pro-tools is more similar to garageband, right? My wife might find it easier to work with because she uses garageband on her mac.

Pro Tools Express comes with most M-Audio interfaces, and allows you to upgrade to the full version for only $200.

This is not Express, this is a new version.
