Wire transfer for last paycheck?

My wife just left her job that did direct deposit (as much as I hate that) for her paychecks for the past year or two. For her last paycheck they sent it via wire transfer instead of direct deposit, so we got dinged with a $15 wire transfer fee from our bank (you can probably see why we had her leave that passive aggressive piece of **** company). Does anybody know if this is legal under CA law? I'm coming up with zilch on my cursory Googling. It's $15, so I'm not too worried, but it still kind of pisses me off.

Was wire transfer the only option they gave her? They couldn't have just dropped a check in the mail?

Wow. I don't have any info, but that's silly and childish.

I am sorry your wife has had to deal with a company that obviously is ______.

It's legal, and it's standard operating procedure whenever an employee ends the relationship without sufficient notice for payroll to generate the check within their routine timeframe (usually2 weeks). If two week notice is given, most companies give the option of picking it up on the last day

Dumb. She gave them more than two weeks and even inquired about her last paycheck but had no response.

Unfortunately if it's legal and standard practice I can't see where you have any legal grounds--especially when it's $15.00. I know sometimes $15.00 can be real money, but really is it worth stressing about? I would think it would be better to just move on.
