I like them. I'm an upright player and have to say that my 3/4 bass is a monster to transport. I know several guys who play on the bluegrass circuit with an electric upright and they get a great tone with a minimal load of equipment. The Palatino is the absolute bottom of the barrel. They're not perfect but they get the job done. You can also pick up an inexpensive Chinese upright bass and install a pickup and get a pretty good tone. It all depends on what genre of music you're playing. Bluegrass players like a dry thump more than tons of sustain. And we never play with a bow.
So, what are you planning on doing with it? |
