Toyota 4Runner

Are these things as bullet proof as I have heard? I'm looking at 2010 (the newer 5th gen) with 57,000 miles. Asking price is higher than I thought it would be for the age and mileage, but then I realized how these do not really depreciate and seem to run for a long time.

Do I have anything to be concerned with? It would be replacing a 2008 Jeep Liberty. I am buying for the long, long term here. More than the Liberty.

Or, would I be better off with a Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Fuel economy is a cruel mistress. I think for the amount of gasoline you'll be consuming with a 'mid-sized' SUV, you could just as easily be driving a roomier full size. Just a thought. A Tahoe, Expedition, or QX54 may get roughly the same fuel economy in the real world, and be roomier and easier to work on. If you plan on keeping the rig, then resale isn't all that important, and everyone I know with a Toyota 4.0 V6 is getting around 13mpg.

Looking to buy used, my friend. I can't afford the real deal on a new budget.

Yes, my statements remain true whether the vehicle is used or new.

paid
My husband drove a 1985 4Runner for 20 years. That thing was a workhorse, and it got great gas mileage. It would probably still be in the driveway had he not fallen in love with a pretty red Tacoma in 2005.

Well, we've done it.

We purchased a 2010 4Runner Limited today. Let's hope this last a long time as there is no warranty on it.
