So I was after either a delay pedal (decent one) or a hardshell case for my strat copy, or a set neck Les Paul copy under $100. I stumbled across a blonde (I love blonde guitars) 4 string Yamaha RBX 260 bass. The pawn shop asking price was $160 and the bass had a few decent sized dings and a little rust on the bridge.

Now I know I can get a new RBX 170 for about $150 all day and used that as my leverage. Also, I knew the bass would need new strings so I had that too. Anyway I got out the door for $100 cash. Not the best deal but I feel I got my money's worth.

I disassembled, cleaned, trimmed the excess off the old strings and put them back on after sanding the nicks down since they drive me nuts. After finishing the setup I've gotta say I never knew a bass could have such low action with no buzzing. What a great neck and fret work. I've worked on other brand cheap guitars and I'm a big fan (obviously if you check my sig.) of Yamaha. The build quality and fretwork is great.

Nice. I love the Yamaha RBX stuff, particularly their 5-string basses.

Yep. The stuff that far down the line gives me mixed feelings from an aesthetic standpoint, but I have a RBX760 that plays great.
We've all got ideas. We are the music makers. We make money to buy things, and write down words.

I'm a podcaster
