North East Georgia Bassists....

Who do you play for? Where do you play?

I'd like to get a thread started here where we can get together and listen to each other play, or just get together and listen to some live music.

I'll start.

I'm one of three bassists at the Church I attend, Prayer and Praise Christian Fellowship. I'm new to this church and I am still getting plugged in. I'm currently playing one Sunday a month, but it's not the same Sunday each month. I'm also working on getting plugged in as one of the rotating sound engineers.

I also play at a place called The Cross Worship Ministry. I would post a link, but I am currently not allowed to do that here due to some strange limitation. Anyway, TCWM, is somewhat like the IHOP ministry that conducts prayer 24x7. TCWM hosts different worship teams ( non-denominational ) every two hours. I play every Wednesday evening from 6pm-8pm ( sometimes I play from 6pm-10pm, though ). TCWM has a full recording studio and I've been blessed with being called in to lay down some bass tracks. TCWM also has a streaming internet-based radio station.

TCWM, IME, is a musician's dream gig ( non-paying, that is ) in that I get to play with a large variety of other musicians and style's of music. In fact, one of the musicians that I've played with shows up with no music and just plays keys. There are no words, just music. You just have to jump in and play by ear. Playing at TCWM has been a great learning experience for me as a bassist. I usually play with either a drummer or a percussionist, but sometimes I constitute the entire rhythm section by myself.

So, how about you?

Was pretty sure Acworth was considered North West Georgia. Either way, I grew up in Dalton, lived in Marietta for a while, powder springs, Roswell, back to Marietta, now in Acworth.

I have a band that's basically lyrics and our new other guitarist (another member here who I've been friends in real life with for a while) getting up to speed from starting to play out. Maybe tighten up a few solos and such, but overall, we're pretty much ready. We may record soon as well.

I don't play in church, I'm not a fan of P&W music, I avoid it usually, but churches in the area that don't play P&W are generally speaking, full of crazies. So my wife and I have been trying to find a new church home for a while.

Oops, you're right.

I lived in NE Georgia for so long....old habits....I can't change the title of the post either....

Good luck with finding a church home. I tried several in the area myself....
