Why So Little

I'm curious, why is there so little discussion on this forum? I am not complaining, just surprised. I like to discuss, or at least discover what others have to say on various guitar related topics. I check daily, but there is very little to peruse. How do we increase the amount of discussion?

Membership is low. Facebook groups offer faster responses. Large forums (TGP, TDPRI) offer a greater knowledge database.

We increase discussion by posting more stuff, I suppose.

Yes, post more! Make lots of threads. Reply to lots of threads. The more stuff there is for people to reply to, the more they will reply.

I used to moderate the guitar and sound threads for a Christian music forum a few years ago. It wasn't as active as the secular ones I was familiar with, but it was active. Several posts daily. I've also notice there is virtually no gear offerings in the Christian music magazines either. What is it with us Christians not wanting to discuss gear?

I think the problem is most of the active members on here already know what the other active members are using (there is a show off your rig thread that is reasonably active) and are mostly not replacing the stuff often enough.

Most of the discussions that happen are "What should I get?" or "I'm thinking of getting" or "I just got!"

I'd probably post a lot more in these sections if I had the money. :P

I'd post more if I were actually playing out places.

Man, you should have been here in the forum's heyday. So much traffic it was hard to keep up with. Make sure you read the amps and pedals sections too. Also thesteve has a gear podcast, with a pretty active community of listeners on the facebook group. A large portion of the posters are probably Christians because Steve and Ryan are and a lot of the posters are people they've met from various places, including here and other P&W forums.

Now if you want to talk gear here, post some stuff about some Fender guitars or unique guitars and I will talk ALL DAY.

One of the biggest problems, however, is that a lot of us have discussed gear so much on here that there's not much for us to talk about because we've all been here for years. You're new blood, which is great for this forum. Start up some conversations and we will gladly weigh in. Even get heated sometimes .

I know that both Steve and myself are both huge gearheads. And we're not the only ones around here.
