| Is there a "new" Switchfoot? I heard Dare You To Move and Love Alone Is Worth A Fight, and I couldn't believe that they were by the same artist. According to my dad- Switchfoot has been around for quite a while now and I was wondering if maybe they switched bandmembers or something cuz it dosen't sound at all like them anymore.

The line-up has only changed by adding new members.

| Well I want to point that plenty of bands change their sound drastically from album to album never mind three decades! Also a lot of times the sound is affected by others in the back like producers and who they are signed with/what they want the feel of a album to be. they have improved on their sound and added newer members but the newer guys dont account for the sound change. They had to change, very few long term bands keep the same sound the whole time.

| I think Switchfoot has kept all 3 of its founding members. For some perspective though, "Dare You to Move" first came out almost 15 years ago. That's a long time for a band not to change at all, let alone a lot. |

| True, personally I don't think they did themselves any favors by changing so much like that. I liked the way they used to sound better, but that's a matter of opinion.

It may seem clear now it was better but at the time it was "this again?" at least in my circles

| Lol, yeah. I guess people thought of them like I think of MercyMe's older songs, Or Casting Crowns' songs, People must like their new feel though, because Love Alone plays A LOT on the radio.

| Lol...
Yeah...there's a wiki for that.
But in short
Switchfoot formed around 1996.
Jon and Tim Foreman and Chad Butler have been in the band since the beginning.
Jerome was added around 2001 and Drew around 2004 (becoming official in 2005)
Most fans note a major style change around the time The Beautiful Letdown came out, with Nothing is Sound being a full transition.
For myself, I don't feel like their style has shifted much in the last decade or so. |

| I wouldn't say they have changed their style...it has evolved some as they've gotten older.
And I got news for all of you...that happens to ALL of us.
Jon Foreman was 20 years old when they first started and 21 when the first album came out. He's 37 now and has a different point of reference.

| Yeah, so it hasn't really changed, just they kinda changed their feel a bit. I don't listen to much Switchfoot, I just was amazed that those two songs were sung by the same band. I listen to a LOT of Jeremy Camp and, some MercyMe, Phil Wickham, and others like them...
I just couldn't believe it was the same artist! Has the lead singer changed?

He even has his own solo stuff. Pretty good.

| Maybe it's because I've been listening to them a long time, but I feel like Jon's voice is actually the one consistent thing throughout the years. |

His voice has become the iconic sound of Switchfoot. To beat it all, it's not all that great, but more unique in my opinion.
