I really don't understand the Cowboy's signing Sams to the practice squad. I always felt that he was undersized to play his position in the NFL, and wonder if Jerry is just getting some publicity (not that he needs any more than he already gets), but then again, it's Jerry, and he can never have enough attention.

Jones has never met a camera he didn't like.

I think he's talented enough to be on the depth chart on a team. He had three sacks in the pre-season. I don't know of anybody else who got cut who even had two... In fact, most rookie linebackers who made rosters didn't get a single sack.

Look at the last 10 SEC defensive players of the year. Only one of them was taken lower than the second round. That was Sam.

He's a very good football player. Good enough to be on an NFL team.

Also, to Jones' credit, he will not sell Sam's Jersey, because they don't sell the jersey of any practice squad members.

Last year was also a bit of a down year for the SEC.

Interesting game. Falcons and Saints both teams without defenses but with pretty solid offensive weapons.

I watched the Bills beat the Bears - Cutler looked like old Cutler, looking brilliant one play and then getting picked off the next. EJ Manuel looked very good. Great touch on passes and good legs to extend plays. He could surprise a lot of people considering they have a few weapons up front as well. Buffalo defense still pretty weak though.

Tennessee throttling KC was a nice surprise. If Arizona could do that to the Chargers tomorrow I'd be a very happy camper.

I'm happy with the 49ers win over Dallas, but I really would have liked to see them put it away convincingly in the second half. The lines weren't at their best... But yeah, a win in Dallas is always a very happy way to start a season.

Is he worth the distraction?

I've read articles about the NFL viewing the tape from the casino elevator, of Ray Rice in the altercation with his girlfriend/wife, prior to the 2 game suspension he received. Now the tape has been made public and the Raven's void his contract, and the NFL suspends him indefinitely.

Seems the NFL was almost hoping for another chance to visit this again. I agree with the more recent viewpoints of the NFL policy as it pertains to domestic violence. I wish they would go further, and institute an automatic ban if you are convicted of a felony. Many, many jobs in the US you cannot work at if you have a felony conviction, I would expect an NFL position (minimum salary $400,000+) should be easy to fill vacancies.

It's only a distraction if you make it one.

Ray Rice hasn't been convicted, or even charged, with anything though. Also, I'm not sure I agree. When somebody pays their debt to society, I think they deserve a second chance.
