In a van down by the river? Avoid Aberdeen. I understand that it's boring and nothing there except Kurt Cobain worshipers, though that's from some Kurt worshiper friends of mine who made a "pilgrimage" there.

so here is another kind of question...

old (1905-1940) houses...my parents are naysayers. what say the (preferably first-hand experienced) CGRers?

Call Ben and Sarah! They live right up there.

Renton isn't sketchy. There are some hooligans near downtown, but the highlands towards Factoria get nicer as you get closer to Bellevue... Which is right around Bill Gates' house

Kirkland is definitely a popular place to love if you are working in Bellevue. Traffic in and out of Bellevue can get TERRIBLE at rush hour from the North Eastside, though.

There is a massive trade off with old houses. They are so much more work, but they have the character.
