Recycling Bass Strings

One of friend's new idea to recycle old bass strings.

I feel like the last thing I'd want to do with old bass strings is have it touch my food.

The old strings were used to wrap a chicken for roasting.

That's kinda gross. Did he bathe them in soap and hand sanitizer first?
