| Earlier this hitch I read From Promise to Power, the history of Pres. Obama from childhood through presidential candidate.
I'm slogging through An American Live, Ronald Reagan's autobiography. I say "slogging" because while his life was extremely interesting, the writing style does not engage me very well.
It's actually amazing how much alike these two men were.
I'm also just finishing Sea of Glory, the history of the U S Exploring Expedition that took three years, included five vessels and covered the antarctic, South Pacific Islands, and the U S Pacific North West. The commanding officer of the fleet was an ass and an idiot. It has given me an opportunity to examine my own leadership style as a captain. |

| i just finished the chosen by chaim potok (and cried a lot at the end for reasons i can't really explain) and currently am working through the idiot by dostoevsky. i've pretty much abandoned the brothers karamazov for now and much, much, much prefer the idiot. i am kind of getting the feeling that the biggest problem with the other is the translation because i really don't mind the writing style in this one. |

| Right now it's the Gospel according to Luke in the ESV.
And In the Face of God by Michael Horton.
Both great reads.
Of course Luke's Gospel, being inspired by God is the better read, but Horton's book is phenomenal. He addresses not just the joys of intimacy with God, but the dangers.
I highly recommend both.
I've also started Christian Love by Hugh Binning--very good start.

| "The Constant Gardener" from John Le Carre.
It wasn't the type of book that was normally my cup of tea, but my super thoughtful teacher was thinking about my love of spies and for the last few months, has been recommending me books in that genre. This one is by an author who did a lot of those. He had an extra copy and gave it to me.

| The Acts of the Apostles.
The Man of Sin by Kim Riddlebarger--an interesting look at how Christians have viewed the Anti-Christ, how the world has affected that, how popular culture has been influenced by these views & how it has also influenced hem, and how we ought to view the Anti-Christ biblically.
I'm only in the early pages, but so far--it is intriguing.
