Well we wouldn't want to get reasonable now.

On the other hand if one where to walk into the forest and see that a tree had fallen what is he to assume? If the tree did not exist prior to his perception then the past life and death of the tree is merely an illusion. Did God place the fallen tree in the forest with the illusion that it once existed? Did dinosaurs exist or did God just create dinosaur bones? This would make God out to be a deceiver. Any postulation that requires deception can only come from one being. The self same being that question Gods words in the Garden of Eden.

As you can see, this thought experiment really gets to the issue of how futile mans thinking is if he rejects the word and natural revelation of God.

For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, (Rom 1:20-22 Nasb)
