Now it's time for lunch.

The pasta was good.
I ate every single bite,
then I liked the plate.

I'm fifty this year.
I'm not happy about it.
But it still will come.

Took me twelve years to get there.
"Whatever," said all.

And, with any luck, so will sixty, and seventy, and... You get the picture .

It is amazing when you look back at how long you've been part of this community and what that many posts adds up to. Time flies by.

What is Haiku?
Is it that 3x3 number thingy?
or is it the Japanese planes flying into US carriers?

(Note: Pretty sure there were some rules for something to be a haiku. I don't remember them though...)

Fun fact: Japanese speakers don't count syllables the same way we do. They instead count morae, which are either short (if the syllable is "open", i.e. ending in a vowel), or long (if the syllable is closed, ending in a consonant). As a result, Japanese haiku doesn't follow the five syllable - seven syllable - five syllable method you learn in American elementary schools, but rather is 5-7-5 measured in morae.
