How to do the awesome spacious tambourine hit?

What are your ideas about creating that perfect tambourine hit?

I'm mostly talking about for recording music. It's the really spacious reberb-y tambo hit that kind of goes shhKK and it feels very far away.

Boyce Avenue on Youtube does this alot.

One way is to get the tambourine stand and a kick drum pedal, but that could be expensive if you don't have a drum set that you can pull them off of.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but it's such a pretty sound! What are your techniques?

There are specific tambourine techniques that are used by advanced orchestral percussionist. One of the tehcniquest that comes to mind for the shhhhKKKK sound is rubbing your thumb along the rim of the tamborine to vibrate the metal disks and then coming to an abrubt stop to create the final attack.

Can you post a link to a song that has this sound?
