| NFL 2012-2013 Can't believe there wasn't a thread already. Since the season is almost ready to start, I'm gonna start it by posting this: Now on Internet: It’s Mike Vick Injury Bingo! (ouch) | Jeff Schultz

| I have low expectations for my Cowboys this year. Maybe The Panthers will have a good season.

Anybody else have backup teams? I know I do. I've been a life long Rams fan (yup, if anyone needs a back up team it's a Rams fan) but my dad has been a life time Packers fan and since we moved to the Houston area 5 years ago I've started backing them a little too.
Anybody root against teams as much as they pull for others? I know I do. Often I'm watching a game...say Seattle and N.O. and my wife will say, "who are you pulling for?". When I say Seattle she asks if I like them..."no, I just can't stand the Saints". She doesn't get it, but it makes sense to me. |

| In the last five or six years I've become a big Chargers fan...
If I were to say I have a "backup" it would be the Lions. I got really into them after the Calvin Johnson draft in 2007. After that draft I said they were a QB away...
In 2009 they drafted Stafford, who was great when he was healthy, and I said, "they're a couple defensive players away"...
now it's 2012 and they've picked up Fairley and Suh...and now I say, "they're a couple years of maturity away"...
I definitely watch the Chargers more, because they're on TV more and they're the hometown team. If I'm home and a Lions game is on, I'm probably watching it...if my wife lets me. |

| I like the Falcons for a backup team. Matt Ryan is the man and I'm betting he is a top 5 QB by the years end. |

I'm currently wearing a Falcons tee, but I lost all confidence in the Falcons over a decade ago and I've learned it's best not to get my hopes up, there's less pain that way.

Now I just need the Texans to do the same. |

| I'm a life-long Chiefs fan. I really don't have a backup team I root for, but I do have individual players I admire, and so sometimes will root for teams based on that. Years ago I used to root against the Cowboys (because they won too much) and sometimes that same logic will cause me to root against the Patriots as well.
Having a fantasy team the last few years, I now find myself sometimes having a rooting interest in games that otherwise I would ignore entirely. |

| I grew up cheering for the Seahawks, but my husband is a lifelong Broncos fan, and we live in Denver now, so the Broncos have definitely become my backup team. Lots of excitement here this year.
