Question Midi 2 USB

Considering Midi is a huge part of keyboards now days (interms of recording, and other stuff) i have decided to ask all the piano people here if they could help me with one thing. I have a really good laptop and all, but i cant go directly in computer cuz the sound card isnt built strong enough to handle it, so it distorts.

So, im thinking to myself, could there be some type of device that converts midi to USB.... Is there? Any suggestions??...

thanx

Yes... there are many such devices. Let me find a few links for you. In the mean time, remember that recording via MIDI will not record any actual sound. It seemed like you were kinda assuming that with your comment about the sound card distorting.

*goes to find some MIDI-to-USB converters...*

Ok..... here's a few different devices that will do the job of converting to and from USB and MIDI..... they're about $50 on average:
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/.../base_id/56693

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/.../base_id/42956

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/.../base_id/53018 (this one costs a bit more [$75] seeing as it has 2 seperate MIDI channels instead of just 1)

Hope this helps....
