20th anniversary squier p bass

Anybody know anything about these. The body appears to be alder, and the neck is really nice. A friend of mine just gave it to me, and I was thinking of hotrodding it. Don't want to sink a lot of money into it if there is no hope though. I was worried it might be a plywood body, but I sure don't think it is.

If the neck feels good, play it. I can't recall what the common body type on these were. I want to say it's alder or poplar, and given the year of manufacture (2001/2002 IIRC) Squier was past its plywood phase.

I probably wouldn't sink a ton of money into one, but you can probably tweak it into being as good as a MIM Standard P-bass.
We've all got ideas. We are the music makers. We make money to buy things, and write down words.
