i went to practice last week and our coach makes us run -- HARD

3 people threw up

anyways... anyone like it?
i may not make the team but it seems like a LOT of fun!!!!

hehe fun stuff - i'll explain more as i learn more

basically, theres 20 people in a boat (minimum 8 girls) and we paddle - hard

i dunno anything else, i'm just learning everything now

ahhhh i'm gonna have so much fun!

we're going to Toronto Island to paddle and we get to camp out there overnight and last year the team broke into some place and got golf carts and rode around the island at night hahaha

woooo i'm so pscyhed!!!

Does anyone's school have this? Or do you belong to a club of any sort?

ok, theres 6 ppl in the front (3 on each side)
8 people in the middle (4 on each) this is the powerhouse...the strongest guys which move the boat
6 ppl in the back (3each), they pick up the pace near the end of the race, forcing the guys to pick up speed

i am in the back, left paddler

oh man! you guys DONT know what youre missing! its sooooo much fun! i got soaked today at practice on the lake! it was great!!!!!

never heard of it, sounds like something they would do in Australia or something. It sounds like another unconventional pre-modern sport. Sounds like you're having fun though, which is all that counts!

dragon boat racing has been around for awhile!!!

do yall race against other teams in lakes or along the coast, or in a river? How did the sport get its name?

its in the water (hence the 'boat' part

we practice in the lake, in a bay
i think we'll race on the lake
and we race against a whole bunch of other boats from other schools
we havnt raced yet this year
we'll have 3 tournaments, i think
i dont know how it got the name!
i'll find out more! (just cuz its SO much fun!)

hey that sounds really interesting. the closest thing ive heard of that's like that in california is like two guys racing on a surfboard or something like that. i dunno. anyway. do play w/ a school or something? do u sit in a canoe type thang, or more of a boat type thang? sounds like a lot of fun watever u do, and hope u have fun doing it.:kgrin:
