Ibanez 4 string Bass and practice amp.

Ibanez GSR100EX Soundgear Bass Guitar

I've been looking at this Bass for only a few days, i'm wondering if there is any input you guys can give me? I've never played Bass before and that's part of the reason i'm not looking for a more expensive bass but I've heard good things about Ibanez and was wondering if this bass would last me a while if I bought it?

Thanks.

Look at you! I don't know anything about basses, I just wanted to welcome you to CGR.

Excellent starter bass. I am a big fan of Ibanez products. I own two Ibanez basses. I highly recommend them.

Also, would you think that the Ibanez IBZ10B 10W Bass Amplifier would be good for starters???

I think a better question is, how much money to you have to spend for this?

IMO the 10W practice amp isn't going to be much better than playing through a guitar practice amp if you already own one of those.

This, times 100. A 10-watt amp is going to be crap. That's the long and short of it. I would not recommend wasting your money on anything less than 100 watts, unless you can find a REALLY cheap starter amp on Craigslist or something like that.

Also, consider what your aspirations are for your playing. Are you hoping to join a band? If so, what kind? Do you want to play at your church? Your bedroom? All of these are going to have a big impact on what kind of gear will work best for you.

Speaking of CL, keep an eye out there for amps. You'll find older Peavey amps for cheap pretty often.

Also, Mara, I'm impressed that your entire family finds their CGR identity in relation to you.

What can I say? I paved the way. The D family dominates CGR.
