The Amazing Spider-Man

I've been very skeptical of this project since the first time I heard about it, and pretty much everything except the casting has affirmed my skepticism...until I saw today's trailer. I saw the first trailer and it seemed to affirm all my fears that it was simply going to rehash what we saw before.

But about two hours ago I saw the new trailer and for the first time I thought to myself...that looks like that might be good.

I can honestly say that I am totally uninterested in this reboot.

I agree with Sean. This is the first time I thought, "Actually, that might be worth seeing. At home. On DVD. Where I can drink good coffee instead of paying $5 for a cup of crappy soda."

First trailer was ok for me.

New trailer? I'm a whole lot more interested.

Will probably try to see in the theater if I can.

Marvel sold most if it's character's movie rights off to individual companies. Then they were bought by Disney. So the new deal is that if the studios don't use the material every [blank] number of years then the rights revert to Disney. So you can expect a Spiderman movie every few years for now until Sony no longer wants the franchise. That's why we are getting this reboot.

I think it looks pretty promising. They've got some good talent in there, hopefully the screenplay is as good.

Is it an origin story? Because I always wanted to know how Peter Parker became Spider-Man.

It's a Lizard origin story.

Yes. They are telling the untold story of his origin. It's weird they've never told that story before.

Literally within days of movie blogs making announcements about a fourth Tobey Maguire movie the studios announced the reboot. The entire thing is pure business.

...of course it's good business to make a movie people like. So maybe it's good.

I always thought he got bit by a spider (like in the first of the recent trilogy)... how did he really become spiderman? I do vaguely remember something about him originally appearing in a Fantastic Four storyline, but I am not sure.
