| I'm not sure I understand the thread title. Do you mean "how do I tell the differences between different examples of the gibson es 335 model" or "how do I tell the difference between a gibson es 335 and other guitar models?"
As to what a given guitar is worth, you could look at a few websites to see how much they sell for, but ultimately it's worth what you're prepared to pay for it. |

Gibson's ES Series
Epiphone also offers versions of some of these models including the "Dot" (ES-335), and their recent ES-339 (similar to the 335, but with a smaller body).

I've seen the same guitar sell for $2500+. I would think $1500 to $2000 is a fair, used value for any Gibson ES-335. Quote:

| You know...I may be wrong. They may NOT make a 335 Standard making all of them Custom. I'm really not sure.

I know at some points there were standard 335s as well.

| Here are a few things that might help narrow down which model 335 it is.
Does the guitar have a plain or figured top?
Is the hardwear Chrome or Gold?
Does it have a Bigsby Tremlo?
Does it have Dot or some other style of fret marker?
Does the heastock have the crawn inlay or Split diamond(same as on a Les Paul Custom)?
What color/type of binding does the body have?
There are other variations such as EMG or Gibson: Dirty Fingers pickups, Ebony fretboard and 345s and 355s with Varitone switches. All of the 335 I've look at online are in the $1,500 and up price range with a few exceptions being a little less. I hope this may be of some help. |
