| Too many amps? Never heard of such a thing, but is it possible? Does one really NEED so many amps?

| 1. That's not very many amps
2. The problem you might have is too many low-end amps. |

2. True story. I'm poor. |

| Need?
Probably not.
But that doesn't mean it is wrong to have them if you are not going into debt, starving or ignoring your responsibility to others--and maybe they were gifts or bought when you had the money, or maybe you were an unbeliever at the time you bought them, etc.

| I own 1 amp
I've always liked just having 1 amp that I can really get to know well, rather than having a bunch of different ones. I know my AC30 so well now, I know exactly how it's gonna sound and respond in every situation to everything I throw at it. It's a comfort level with my gear I never had when I used multiple amps.
I know I've gone through just about everything you can name, and usually haven't kept anything more than a year, but I seriously think I've finally found the last amp I'll ever own. I can't think of anything more that I could want that it doesn't give me

| Kustom makes some sweet stuff, I had a nice combo from them at one time. Also had a SWEET bass amp from Kustom. |

| I prefer to sell gear I'm not using, and buy something I want to try. I can see having a couple of different amps, but not 12. I'm trying to figure out how to justify having three guitars right now as I'm waiting on my custom tele to be finished, and have a thinline still in the process. I have a les paul studio I do not want to turn loose of. Had a beautiful les paul standard, but it did not compare to this studio, there is something about the pickups that is fantastic. |

But I like variety, so the more gear the better that way--although I do agree if you're not using it--consider selling it.

| 1 amp or 10 amps. I think this depends on what you do. If you just play at church or in a band then one amp with your sound might be fine. If your busy with multiple artists and doing studio work you need to have an amp thats made for that job. I tend to think of amps in 4 categories - Fender sounds, vox sounds, marshall, and mesa rectifierish sounds... For a studio musician owning an amp in each of those categories can cover most if not all that comes your way. |

| I've never had more than two amps at a time. I try to keep a steady rotation of only having two amps at a time.

| Too many amps? Only if you're not using them and/or they're causing you to go broke, imho.
I currently have 3 (Peavey Delta Blues 210, Vox AC15VR, Line 6 Spider II 112) and use them all for different things.
Nothing high-end at, although that's next on the list. My family budget simply does not justify spending $2k+ on a Bad Cat or Matchless or Dr. Z or similar, as much as I'd love to own one. |

| My friend has a delta blues 2x10 hands down the best bass response I've heard from a combo amp. If you want to play in drop d, don't gig without it. |
