As a PhD student, I get my library books for 2 months, and can renew them twice before returning them (unless they get recalled). Althought the uni library is more for textbooks than literature.

I look forward to finishing studenthood, when I'll have time to read fiction again.

What is your doctorate study pointed toward?

I'm looking at how the vocal folds change as you age, and the resultant effect on speech. I'm in a mixed area, with electrical engineering (signal processing), speech science and a bit of physiology thrown in for good measure. I often wonder if I've bitten off more than I can chew.

It is, and that's why I study it!

In my view you shouldn't do a PhD unless it's a subject that genuinely interests you. It's not a job ticket sort of degree.

Mine are not, but that's potentially due to the fact that I don't have any right now.
