| I always just use inexpensive (NOT CHEAP!) Horizon/Rapco cables that you can get at any guitar shop for $15. I'd rather have a cable with two spares than one cable with a really good warranty and no backup. Also, pretty much all decent cables will have a lifetime warranty that allows you to make a swap at the store. We used to do it with Horizon cables at the guitar shop I used to work at all the time. It's not a Monster-only policy.
On top of that, it's worth mentioning that "tonal differences" between cables are purely psychoacoustics. A quality cable will pass a signal and that is all. An overly long cable will begin to attenuate high frequencies, but apart from that, any decent cable (including the $15 GC cables) will be almost entirely transparent tonally. |

| I've used Horizon cables for years. Everything from stage snakes, mic cables, guitar cables, patch cords, you name it. They are reliable, lay flat, and are easy to roll. I have one boutique guitar cable that is supposedly guaranteed for life but it's really no better than the Horizons.
My number one gripe about some cable is it's inability to lay flat. It takes on some kind of weird life of it's own and you spend too much time dealing with it rather than something truly important. |

It takes on some kind of weird life of it's own and you spend too much time dealing with it rather than something truly important. | A guy here at church who used to work for Gore got me an Elixer cable at a discount price...which was still stupid expensive, imho.
Did it sound any better than any other cable I've used?
Not that I could tell, but I did have a big issue with the fact that the cable was the size diameter of a telephone pole and the thing would not just LAY THERE on the ground! It kept twisting up and becoming a trip hazard.
I no longer use it. Of the few dumb purchases I've made in my lifetime, it's one of them. |

| I would just like to mention that Monster Cables is a terrible company and any person with a conscience should avoid them like the plague. Seriously, don't buy monster. Monster Cable learns nothing, sues Monster Transmission -- Engadget

| I don't like monster, just I can't fix them on the spot if something goes wrong. I will say that there are differences in some good cabling brands, but theyre subtle. As an EE, I know that differences in capacitance and such can make a difference. Ive wired up my pedalboard 3x, with Redco, Lava, and now Evidence Monorail, and there was a noticeable difference with Lava. Definitely warmer, but it's hard to notice. Granted, patch cabling on a board is slightly different, cause there's 25ft of it split into like 20ish pieces, but the thought is still the same

| I snagged a "nicer" LiveWire with the braided exterior a few weeks ago, and I like it a lot.
coils nice, doesn't twist up too bad ( wander when I play)... in all, very pleased. I have several other LiveWires (from GC) and there isn't anything WRONG with any of them.
YMMV

"Genrically" is not a word, so you'll have to forgive me for assuming that you meant "generally." I did read your entire seven-word post, but it did not make sense. |

| I use a Planetwaves cable that has an on/off switch. I've only had it for a month, but I have noticed the quality's much better than my cheaper cables and I'm rather happy with it.
In terms of its quality over time, one of my friends has a very similar one that he bought several years back, and it's still going amazingly.

| I'm still using the AXL and Fender cords I bought 5 years ago. Another musician on our team bought Monster cabels a couple of years ago and we are both unimpressed. |
