theme: creation/redemptive motion...need song ideas =)

hi friends. i am working on a project with one of my HS seniors, and we are trying to come up with appx 1.5-2 hrs of songs for a worship event. our original theme was creation, but now we're looking more at redemptive motion: creation, fall, cruxificion/salvation, creation made new/eternity

i did search through the forum a bit but most of what i found was from a while ago. i am pretty out of touch with what's new/current in worship music (aside from what's on klove) since i graduated from college, so any old and new songs are welcome.

here's a snippet of our set list for reference:

beautiful things - gungor (first and last song)
this is my father's world
indescribable - chris tomlin
nothing but the blood
rescue - desperation band
revelation song - phillips, craig & dean

potentials:

cannons - phil wickham
all the heavens - third day (we'll deal with the singing angels later )
10,000 reasons - matt redman

my actual list is pretty long and i have to weed through it, but i value all of the creativity and collective musical knowledge so if you have any ideas, please share!

Give the worship together website a go - you can search songs by category, which might be helpful for you.

I would also suggest...

Set Free - Passion
You Alone Can Rescue - Matt Redman
Let Creation Sing - Hillsong (a bit older)

thank you. it looks like it will be very helpful, and thanks for the song suggestions. i did listen to let creation sing while i was sifting through songs but the version on youtube was not amazing in quality. i will check to see if it's on the worship site you linked. =)

fyi for future posters, we have refined our theme even more to 5 words that describe the christian story. we are adapting our words a bit but basically: good, broken, covenant, rescue, glory/joy/forever (still working on that last one).

any additional song ideas are welcomed and appreciated. =)

I know this suggestion is a non-starter but I always thought using Nine Inch Nails "Wish" would be a really good way to illustrate the broken and corrupt nature of the world. It's just such a powerful bit of music, and the video is visually striking. People wishing for something real, but looking in the wrong place...

I like taking people places they are not particularly comfortable being, and seeing things that they wish weren't so. Not so much to challenge anyone's faith but to remind us all that there is so much work to be done.

This is where I start whenever I'm trying to put a setlist together: PRAYER and waiting on The Lord.

Proverbs 3:5,6 NKJV "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."

I like The Living Bible version: "If you want favor with both God and man, and a reputation for good judgement and common sense, then trust the Lord completely; don't ever trust yourself. In everything you do, put God first, and He will direct you and crown your efforts with success."

You can do all the research, all the work, all the practicing; basically do everything on your own and YOU get all the glory. Or, you can acknowledge to Him that you're not too sure of yourself, and that you need His help and guidance, and watch Him take your work to a whole nutha level, so HIS name will be glorified.

Pray together with your HS student before you get down to business for the day, you pray first and then let her pray and express what's in her heart. Sometimes, when students pray they open up a lot more than when they're just talking. Then you'll be able to gauge a little better where she/he is at on that day. Pray that He will guide you as you listen to klove or "research" songs. Pray that certain words or phrases will jump out at you as you thumb through your songbooks. Tell Him that you're doing this all for HIS glory, not YOURS, and when you hear His voice guiding you don't second guess Him, go with your first "gut instinct" and you'll be amazed at how your song selection will just "somehow" flow.

Newboys - He Reigns would be a nice addition to the Glory/forever theme... and it's easy to perform, IMO.
