I live in a first floor apartment and the upstairs neighbors are noisy. Thumping and stomping on the hardwood floors till 1am when my husband and I are trying to sleep.
My husband also has tourette syndrome and often tics loudly when he is under stress. He is on meds for it. The neighbors called the cops on us one morning because he was ticking bad.
But yet its ok for my neighbors to make as much noise as they want.

They are violating the rules of the apartment by making loud noises, playing loud music and the one guy even plays the guitar in the middle of the night. The landlord has been told but dosent seem to care.
Should i just put up with it or should I call the cops on them?

Im convinced they are doing it on purpose because hear my husband tourettes tics and think its on purpose noise.

What sounds like "thumping and stomping" could be something much more innocent that they don't even realize is making a lot of noise. Similar with the music and guitar. They might not even think you can hear it.

Start from assuming good intentions. You probably need to talk to them. Let them know that sometimes you hear their music loudly late at night. I don't know if it will help, but I know escalating the situation won't.

I agree with Bob, but I would take it one step further. Talk to them, but not about the noise. Ask if they are having problems with the trash pick up, mail service, parking - whatever apartment issues you deal with. When they know that there is a nice couple living below them who speak to them respectfully, they might adjust their behavior without saying a word. It's entirely possible that you will get the old "I hope my music didn't wake you up last night". If that happens, don't say "yes it did!" right away - ask about his/her music. Let the fact that you are on opposite sleeping schedules come up softly, and offer to try not to make a lot of noise early in the morning when he's sleeping.

Thanks for that. Talking to the single men that live in these apartments is impossible. They have the 'its my apartment and i can do whatever i want in it' attitude.
I even tried to explain that the whooting is due to my hubbys tourette syndrome.

They just dont listen to us and thats why im considering calling the cops!
They have to know they are being noisy the way they thump around. Anyone with common sense could tell they are being noisy.
