PAX217 does the rap/rock thing as well, though falling more towards 311 (reggae/punk influenced instead of metal influenced)
oh wow. haha. i actually have a 38th parallel hoodie hanging in my closet. i am pretty sure i've had it about 10 years. i don't really care for linkin park in general, so i would say 38th parallel is better than them, except that i can only remember one line from one song. that one line is pretty decent though. =)

read more books! listen to more classical, jazz and world music! play more other stringed instruments!

My little brother is into the heavier music, as well. He started with Lincoln Park, Metallica, etc. He was introduced to the band Demon Hunter, which is a fantastic replacement of the aforementioned. Check them out!

I've been into heavier music forever.

Christian metal:

Living Sacrifice. These gentlemen make all other Christian metal bands look like a bunch of children with kazoos. Start with "Conceived in Fire." Other than that... Becoming the Archetype is pretty good. Zao. Drottnar. Soul Embraced.

Honestly.... Skillet/Pillar/ugh = yikes. Just.... yikes.

Is the OP just buying Christian music and giving it to his daughters? I'm not sure if thats the best idea. They may actually like it, or they may be on the edge. If they are on the edge, it'd be a no because of a bias to dislike Dad's music. Even at my current age (21), where I am more rational and thoughtful than a 12 year old, I'd be inclined to look at my dad very skeptically if he bought me some cds that he thought I'd enjoy. IF I even bothered to listen to them, they would go through the full lens of criticism.
