You might find a good instrument out there. I purchased a Peavey bass in Vietnam and brought it out here to the states. You shouldn't have too much trouble finding something workable out there.

also, if it is acclimated, chances are it will hold up better.
IME nothing would be worse. The top will expand in humidity while the sides and back remain inert. Humidity is the biggest enemy I have heard of in SE Asia. The top will separate from the sides.
You might be right, Bill, but it's extremely humid here in Florida, too. I haven't seen it cause a problem with these guitars.

Could be, at least during the summer months. It's drier in the winter, of course, which makes it about normal. It's 42% today. In the spring and summer it's usually in the 95% range. We get afternoon rains most days in the warm months.

My wife has martin 000CXE composite body and laminated neck, it would be perfect but too expensive. Sounds like you need a throw away guitar that will last you a few weeks that you could give to some one there when you are done. A few weeks ago I was at Guitar Center looking for and entry level guitar for a beginner that had a very small budget. Two guitars sounded the best, one was a $150 YAMAHA, The second was a complete shock it was a GREAT DIVIDE for just over $100 the sound and feel was much better than I expected. Get an inexpensive hard case and leave it there to keep the music going long after you are gone. We have two guys from our church going to India in a week to help build a church and to lead some services. The one member going is our praise team leader. He has made arrangements to pick up a guitar there. I don't think his vintage Taylor would travel well. Have a wonderful trip and may God bless you and your trip.
