| My current favorite is a modern arrangement of Come Ye Sinners. The best reception any worship song has ever gotten in our congregation. Arranged contemporary ala Todd Agnew and sung by a female lead.

| I would add "In Christ Alone". Don't know who did it originally.

In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
....
'Til He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand
Australian accent optional.

| I concur with Bob's list and for his reasons though there are some that I don't know on that list that I will surely have to check out! These are the ones that come off the top of my head currently without my binder in front of me.
Hymns: Come Thou Fount - for the very reason Bob mentioned. Reveals the truth of my whoredom I often make towards my Savior who bought me but His grace and mercy to seal me. Great imagery Be Thou My Vision - Irish, need I say more? It Is Well - "All my sin not in part but the whole" ... often times the story behind the song brings the words to an even more piercing reality Before the Throne of God Above - The sealing of the Spirit and that no tongue could cause us to depart from His hands is always a great reminder for me
Those are just a few of the hymns that enter my monthly rotation, but here are some of the more modern worship songs or remakes of the oldies we do. How Deep the Father's Love For Us - Stuart Townend In Christ Alone - Stuart Townend Thy Mercy My God - Northland Church Our Great God - by Fernando Ortega but we do Todd Agnew version (Beautiful pictures of Isaiah 6 and the sovereignty of God) Stand in Awe - Jeremy Riddle Triune God - Brian Doerksen (this one is probably one of my favorites right now! How the knowledge of our Triune God should effect our living and our community) Sinless Savior - Aaron Keyes (this is probably my current #2 favorite song we do ... Aaron is a disciple of Stuart Townend. he has a lot of other great ones I havn't gotten to yet) My Savior My God - Aaron Shust (For various reasons, for one it was the song my wife walked down the aisle to, and two it always came back to my mind last year about not knowing what will occur in our future and what God has decreed planned, but we know He stands as our Savior and Lord) |
