| Hindering me from worship Hi, my name is Zach and I'm 17 years old. When I was 15 I fell in love with Christ and want to live my life out for Him!
All my life I've had many struggles with parents and money and even friends. Since I met Christ, I've met so many people, hundreds now, and I've grown a real family under God's working hand.
I also built a very big love for worship and I eventually started leading worship for my high school christian club and for missions.
Although my social life and relationship with God is getting stronger by the day, my parents and money problems have still hindered me a lot.
I'm unable to work due to lack of transportation, and we can't afford a car.
Its been very tough on me that all these people have parents with money and can afford a guitar or nice equipment to do praise team with. As a human being and a sinner, sometimes I can't help but feel envious. But I've always made it work out.
Still, its hard. I don't have a guitar that I can take with me and lead with and I always end up borrowing someone else's and its hard because they need it too. They can't keep lending it to me to practice with.
I'm involved with many groups, such as mission training/worship, school morning worship, my home church worship, and another church worship team.
But I have this under $100 beginner guitar that I started with when I was 13 years old that doesn't plug in and can't even sustain a strap, and the sound is very dull and not good...
Every time I ask if I'll be able to get a new guitar, my mom doesn't think I need a new one. She's not musical so she doesn't understand why my guitar is any different than a more expensive guitar, other than that it could plug in. But theres many differences.
Sometimes I feel like wanting a new guitar is too selfish? Or too materialistic? But what it all comes down to is... I just love worship. I can't get enough worship, and I want to do it all day, everyday.
I just feel like satan is using this as a tease to keep me from feeling like I can worship. Nothing keeps me from worshipping, I can still always worship.
But I've really been praying that I'll be able to have a guitar that I can be comfortable with, that I can take everywhere with me and worship with, and that I can lead and play anywhere comfortably, and something that carries the style i worship with and the quality...that will last me up to adulthood.
I have so many things I've committed to thats coming up soon and its hard without a guitar.
I know its not a huge deal compared to most prayer requests, but its been hindering me for a while.
I could really use prayer and support though because we all know prayer makes anything possible.
Thank you for reading! God Bless~

| Wow! That sounds familiar. Hey, names Adam. I'm 25. Been living at a mission now for seven months, and before then i barely knew our Lord and Saviour. But now I'm nothing without him. In short I'm saved. And when I came to him I started writing my own songs. Well, songs he lended to me. And I couldn't stop. It's like we'd write 3 songs in 3 hours. It was incredible. Before then, I had played guitar for six years. So I knew my way around the neck. But it wasn't until I came to the Lord that he allowed me to sing his praises. BUT.... I, like so many other Babes in Christ, I messed up. Not gonna go into to it, because that's between me and God, But you understand. I had a visit from the old man; If you catch my drift. Thank God I'm twice as strong now~But there were two seperate occasions where I gave away my only guitar. Oh~the peace it brings. I think you might need to humble yourself more. Show a little more faith. Trust me on that. I'm playing on a imitaion Dove. The second guy I gave my guitar to, which both of their name's coincidentally were Joe, inherited millions of dollars. And he told me that he would buy me any guitar I wanted. I havn't seen him in two and a half weeks. Don't give up. I know you need it for a christmas show, just stay humble, and the Lord, like always, will provide. |

~Zach | I know this isn't what you are looking for, but have you thought about earning the money yourself to buy a guitar? When I was 15 or so I bought my 1st guitar. I never had parents buy me an instrument. Sometimes we pray for things that in all honesty, God has given us a means to get. Sometimes you have to get creative with transportation. Busses, bikes, and feet are options out there.

I agree with BillSPrestonEsq. Maybe could you find a little job.
At first, you would be so happy when you'll have your guitar, because it will be really yours.
Secundly, you could discover the real value of a guitar... 15 hours of baby-sitting (I think it's the easiest job to find in a short time... but if it's the case in France, maybe is it not in USA...) ? Work in some garden ? a little job in a fast food ?... you have a lot of choices.
At last, it would be a sign of maturity for you parents, and a sign of respect too !
I'll pry for you |

| 15 in this economy doesn't leave much optimism. So try and ask relatives. Think-Does anyone you know own their own business. Maybe you could get on a lawn crew for a couple of days. There's options out there, you just have to work in the right channels. It's not what you know, it's who you know. And who you know that could get you a small gig could be anybody. All you need is patience and mindset to get the work done. But the best advice I can give you is start at home, and the homes of relatives. DON'T BE PICKEY!!! |

| You aren't being selfish for wanting a new guitar. And the sound quality is better with a more expensive one. Electric guitars with two pickups and a humbucker make kind of a bluesy sound, while ones with two humbuckers (which I prefer) make for a good metal guitar. All depends how how you worship. A lot of worship songs consist of chords, so in that case I would recommend an acoustic guitar. I like rock music, so I try to find worship songs that have a rock rhythm to them. It is more about quality praise to God than just what I enjoy. I hope I helped, feel free to pm me if you need me to answer any more questions.
