| Since the money I typically find is coinage I just pocket it. Or leave it. I don't think I've ever found anything more than a dollar at a time.

I don't usually pick up money from the ground unless its a dollar or more. I'm usually the one throwing coins on the ground under a quarter.

| If it's a quarter, I'll do as Kentl does and see if someone dropped it, then pocket it if not. If it's a larger sum, then my response varies based on the situation. A while back, my girlfriend at the time and I were heading to a restaurant and found $15 or $20 on the ground (can't remember which), and I saw a guy walking away from the spot. So I caught up to him and asked him if he'd dropped any money, to which he responded he hadn't, and, since we couldn't find anyone else nearby to whom it might belong, we decided to use it to help pay for dinner that night.
Some might argue that we should have left it on the ground, to which I say maybe. *Shrug* I dunno. That's what we did, and I think it would vary based on the case. We didn't feel any conviction against it, thus we saw no reason not to. |

| Only once have I found significant amounts of money that I kept. I was in the middle of the desert and $280 in twenties blew by that I caught. Being as I was in the middle of nowhere, I kept it. And looked for more.
I have a few times witnessed someone dropping money, and returned it. Though once I saw a fifty fall. I looked fairly rough at the time and the person wouldn't take their money back because they thought I was up to something.
If I find it and I don't know whose it was, I holler out that I found money. If they can describe what was lost, it is theirs. If not, I keep it.

Being the cautious person that I am, I looked down at the bill, then looked up at him and asked, "What's the serial number?"
Then we both laughed and I handed it to him.

| Typically I only find money in a coat pocket when I wear it for the first time of the season. In that case I stick it back in my wallet and continue on with life. I rarely find any sort of money out in public.

| If I can more or less determine who dropped it, I give it back. If not, I keep it. But then, I've never found more than a few dollars.
