| I did hear a rumor on a video game at walmart.......I may go out just for the fun. I enjoy people watching.
Also, I may be looking for some stuff. I don't know. We shall see. |

| I find shopping stressful under the best of circumstances, so while I appreciate a good deal, I'm much more inclined to go the cyber monday route as opposed to black friday. that being said, I am planning to go out this year because some friends want to go...but I can't say I'm looking forward to it. But I'm willing to keep an open mind, and deals are always good!

| To hijack this thread a bit... how do people feel about so many stores planning to open on Thursday?

Last year I had to work on Thanksgiving as a tech support for a global retailer. We had many stores in South America open, and therefore needed tech support. There was one US store open in San Francisco, and they sold $24 worth of product. I can't see a reason to require employees to be away from family, when there is no real pressing need to be open. In this case the company really lost a great deal of money to have that one store open.
I understand some retailers being open, but the majority could wait. Just my opinion.

| My store opens on Thursday. I volunteered to work. We are only open for three hours in the morning to sell pre-ordered friend turkeys. I don't see a problem with it, but I will be off work by ten AM. AS far as other stores, if your employees are willing to work then go for it. I do however, have a problem with stores who make employees work on Thanksgiving.

| It's my opinion most stores can and should be closed for Thanksgiving. The place I used to work would close on Thanksgiving and it was great. However, I can see the reason for some places to be open.
As for the Black Friday issue... The hubby and I braved the crowed a few years back just for the experience. We won't be doing it this year. There isn't anything we need that badly.

| I think it is good for stores to be closed. Being someone who has had to work ambulance shifts on Thanksgiving more than once, I can say that I greatly appreciate restaurants that are open, even for part of the day.
Looks like black friday is definitely out for me. |

| I'm mostly against the idea. But then if people don't shop on Thanksgiving, then retailers would change thier game plan. So really, the responsibility lies with us.
I had a customer get really angry with me that we were open on Sunday. He was yelling about it, in the store, on a Sunday. Really, guy? |

| I actually heard from someone who worked at Walmart on Thanksgiving Day as well as Black Friday, and he was thrilled that he could get some extra hours on his paycheck, especially with the holidays arriving. I had never thought about it from that perspective. |

| I hadn't ever went out on Black Friday prior to this year, and I must say that going out to Walmart at midnight Friday was a huge mistake. I just wanted to pick up the $39 HP wireless printer they had on sale as it's iOS compatible and received favorable reviews. I didn't expect the people to be as crazy as they were, nor did I expect Walmart's total disorganization. I also didn't expect to see people grabbing several computers, TVs and printers each. Apparently, there's no limit there as to the number of doorbuster items that you can purchase.
Long story short, I came home without the printer, went to bed, woke up at 6am and ordered the printer online through Walmart for the same price, then went back to bed. My other buys for the "Black" weekend included a nice new office chair for half price and the Rocksmith game for $50 ($30 off). I'll just do my Black Friday shopping next year online.
