I think we are designed to have strong emotional responses to music. Barber's Adagio for Strings completely rams me in the gut every time I hear it. I think it's not always safe to assume a link between the emotional and spiritual, though, can a spiritual experience come at any time, particularly one where you're in a heightened emotional state? Sure.
