Find yourself in a folk funk?

I don't know what's got into me lately. I got this weird attraction to folk music. Listened to Simon and Garfunkel until almost midnite last night and today it's been a plethora of old timey goodness.

Anyone else ever find themselves in weird place in music and think "Why am I here"?

Four Strong Winds is simply beautiful.

I just enjoy the ride. Right now I'm kind of stuck on 70's and 80's stadium rock. You know the obligatory ballad with acoustic guitars that is somehow intended to show the band can actually play? I feel a wind blowing soon that is going to take me down a different rabbit hole, probably another bout of chicken pickin'.

I have strong roots in folk so I find myself in that funk everyday. What's really bad is when you're in that funk folk funk where you want to listen to nothing but Bootsy Collins and Peter, Paul, & Mary all day...

LOL! Every hair band has got to have their own "More Than Words"!

When I first picked up the guitar years back, I played with a group of old dudes to polish playing in time and working chord progressions. Most every song we played was something I grew up hearing my mom jam out on a Saturday morning while working around the house. I gotta say it's some of the best music there is period. For the last several years I didn't do much with that kind of music. Now I got a newfound respect and adoration for it once again.

This morning driving out of town during the wee hours, I came across a radio station playing lounge style jazzy stuff. I literally blared "Fly me to the moon" and now got a itchin' to play it.

I feel like I'm getting old or something with all this infatuation with older music.

Nah man, Good music is just good no matter when it was made. I mean, some of the best music IMO was made in the 20s and 30s.

Ha! I said that same exact thing about a month ago. A friend introduced me to Peter Rowan and Tony Rice and Vasser Clemens an David Grissman. Man-Hook, Line, and Sinker. I was done. I couldn't refrain from it. And then I thought to my self, " Do I love bluegrass?" Strange question, well not all too strange I guess, I mean I love the Blues and Jazz and Fusion and Folk and all blended subgenre's of such. I was just perplexed at the sheer joy I had from listening to this music. It was a rare moment. It's not every day you find yourself screaming in your head like a young Beatles fan.
