| But if the Stampeders had traded Burris for Jyles, and a kicker and a pick, there would be people questioning that as well--especially the kicker part.

| Fair enough. The difference, though, is that Calgary may now get nothing for Burris, and people were already expecting him to be traded. Ray being moved was pretty unexpected. I don't know much about Grant Shaw, but I'm still not sold on our FG kicking so it may have been an okay move. Even Jyles + 2nd overall pick might have been okay.

As a Stamps fan I don't like it because it takes away one of our best options for trading Burris. I though him to TO for Jyles + ? would have been good, but I guess thats out. Now he may just get released. Very unfortunate, because as much as I am glad Drew Tate will be our started, if Burris has a good hear he could still be the best QB in the league. | As much as Ray has put up solid numbers as a "good" qb, he just doesn't seem to have the consistency to make it. Then again maybe nobody does. I think it'd be hard to find an Edmonton fan who genuinely liked him though as our qb. I have season tickets, and most of the people around seem to just jibe on Ray the whole time, especially when he's not producing (which we have went through a lot of in recent seasons).

And if Ottawa ever gets going, he could have been lost in the expansion draft any way...

| This surprises me. Ricky Ray is possibly the second best passing QB in the league (besides Calvillo). He had some bad years because he was playing on some bad Eskimo teams, but even then he was still putting up solid numbers. That's not to say he doesn't have some shortcomings, but if I had to choose any QB in the league for my team, Ray would be third in line behind Calvillo and Lulay (I'm not taking into account age here).

| Thats the other thing to take into consideration. A 37 year old declining veteran QB has a harder time justifying his huge salary when there are younger improving qbs that are paid significantly less.

| Burris for Glenn, Dewit (Canadian O-lineman), and a conditional pick. I'm content. Getting a solid backup QB is huge. I would have preferred a younger guy like Jyles, but Glenn will be a good mentor for Tate I think.
