I used to meet out front of a place with armed guards, I also generally carry a weapon of some type if I am carrying more than around $200. In front of a police station is also seriously a good option as well for large cash transactions. I have used those a few times.

OK. I met the guy at target and sold him the bike for 40 $100 bills. Quick easy transaction.

I think that in the right situations cash is alright and large sums are kosher too in my experience. I am just weary of counterfeit cash. Of course, I like to keep my Craigslist transactions to less than $300 just in case I get ripped off.

Not worried; cautious.

Over the years, I've had several friends and family members who have been mugged, beaten, robbed, shot, stuck-up, or murdered. Most were not in dangerous places and were not doing anything out of the ordinary. These things happen with more frequency than many people realize (or at least are willing to admit to themselves). I don't worry about it; I just take prudent precautions.

I don't worry that my house will burn down, either, but I still have smoke alarms and fire extinguishers. I know many more people who have been victims of violent crime than people whose homes have burned.

Consequently, I consider it wise to be armed wherever it's legal, which is most places.

I once sold a truck for 7 grand and requested a cashiers check. when I arrived, they had cash, so I went ahead and made the deal. I took the money straight to my bank, where they scanned the bills to check for counterfeit...I hadn't even considered it! Luckily they were all good.

Bills have so many security features now... Not had to check. Or, if you do these thinks on a regular basis, get one of those markers that checks bills.

Doesn't hurt to check. You could just do it at the bank, and watch them withdraw.
