Suggestions please

So my daughter is starting bass. I've never liked learning songs much, I just like to mess around. Most of the songs we've looked at that she likes seems to have fast bass parts so I was thinking of doing some things with her and I kind of wrote this.... I also added a video clip of me slopping through it. My questions are: does this work? And/or any suggestions to make the bass part more interesting while keeping it easy. I will add a video clip of us playing together when I get it.

Hey daddyo, great to see you back.

I would say this thread might have more joy on the bass section of instruments, so it might whoosh off at some point.

As an occasional bass player, I generally tend to stick around the root as you've transcribed and concentrate more on a really solid rhythm with the drummer, and throw in some 3rds and 5ths for good measure.

+1 on hooking in with the kick drum where possible, a factor often missed by otherwise competent bass players...
