| Why not make a Hispanic version. Followed by a gay version, a lesbian one, a Chinese one, oh and a Jewish one...
But seriously. What's the point? And how far should it go?

Says the guy posting to a forum on a website geared specifically to Christian musicians. | I can't bust up quotes on my phone, so, I will just number things.
1. Why not? I am sure there is. Like you said, movies are in the business of making money. I am sure if they worked at promoting many of those versions they could get a sizable amount to watch it. Even if it was a well done made for tv movie on a more popular channel...
2. Yep.
3. True enough. But I can't seem to shake the feeling that things just get cheaper and cheaper...
4. True enough. At least the purpose of this site isn't to sell some cheap product. Of course, Christianity is also a great universalizer. And we don't gear everything here toward Christian guitarists.

| Apparently the remake is going to be a Lifetime production. The producers are the brains behind the new Footloose adaptation.
As an aside, I've met the guy who wrote Steel Magnolias. He's really nice, and he said he spent a couple of years really baffled that people thought of it as a comedy.

| In all seriousness, no one, NO ONE, will ever be able to pull off reproducing Sally Fields break down in the graveyard unless it's Sally herself. That woman is no joke. |

Is it that hard to understand the narrative in its original form? Can not black people understand or enjoy it? Must it be translated by just changing the color of the actors?
Maybe I am making a mountain out of a mole hill. It just annoys me to no end.
