Brad Paisley

Somehow I don't think Brad Paisley had his own thread in here.

That is officially nuts.

Brad Paisley is the greatest country artist in history.

Agree? Disagree?

I think he is good...maybe even great.

The greatest? Uh...not ready to go there yet.

He's a world class guitarist. He's a great songwriter. He's funny. He's sweet. He has a great sense of style. He collaborates with lots of other musicians. He's not afraid to be different. He's prolific. And on top of all that, he uses his position as a platform to try to inspire others, not to just indulge himself. I don't know anyone else with that combination.

Totally with you on that, Bob. B. Paisley is phenomenal. I love his album "Play."

Disagree. Johnny Cash was such a great all around performer I find it hard to place Paisley on some kind of pedestal above him. Paisley did give a good friend of mine a break.

Johnny had cool. Johnny could write and play. I would still say he's not the best country singer I've ever heard. I respect him, but can only listen about ten minutes before crying tears of boredom.

I'd put Brad higher on the list. I would disagree that he's the best, but the guy's pretty phenomenal.

I admit I like Paisely now more than I used to, but hes certainly not the best country artist. What about like Garth Brooks, Brooks and Dunn or tons of other greats?

Great guitarist but the guitar player he looks up to is Albert Lee.

I like Brad Paisley's stuff. I like Brad Paisley because I feel like he doesn't take himself too seriously.

Is he the greatest country artist in history? George Strait says to let him know when Paisley has 30 consecutive years of top ten singles and 44 number ones.

Is he the greatest country guitarist? I'd have to go old school in lean towards Buck Owens, or go even older and lean towards the foray into country made by guys like Chet Atkins and Les Paul.

This isn't to discredit Brad Paisley. He's a phenomenal artist and musician. I'm definitely hesitant to declare a guy the greatest when he's only been at the top of his game for a decade, particularly when the game has players who have stayed at the top for much much longer than that. At the same time, I also recognize that Garth Brooks, who I'd put up with the greats, only played for a couple years longer than Paisley before going into retirement.

Paisley's good, but his vocals aren't that great to my ears. I mean, he hits the right notes, but I don't get any emotion from him. He's a great guitarist, but that's all to me.

Brad Paisley is pretty awesome and is one of my favorites! I think its hard to say anyone is the "greatest" in country music since there has been SO many great artist!! I would say he is one of the top country guitarist though.

Has anyone seen him and his band live?
I had the pleasure of opening up for him in San Diego a few years back and I have to admit that he and the band hold back on the records.
What they do at a live show is nothing short of musically amazing and soooo entertaining.

Is he the "greatest country artist"? My opinion is that there is no greatest (sorry, Mohammed Ali), but there are those who are head-and-shoulders above the rest.
Brad is in that group, imho.

Johnny Cash is a pioneer, but I can't stand listening to him. His voice grates on my ears. Still I respect him for paving the way and being a rebel of sorts.
George Straight is a fine entertainer, but I don't think he's ever written any of his songs or at least not the hits. He owes a LOT to his songwriters and producers.
Brad plays, sings, writes, arranges...all of the things that most everyone else only does one or two of. Just sayin...

AFAIK, George Strait did not write any of his hits. This may have changed in the last five years or so, but for his first 40 or so number 1s it was definitely true.
