Penny collection - to keep or get rid of

I am debating getting rid of my penny collection. I've been collecting them for a while now, and my oldest penny is 1817.

I am wondering what the long term benefits of keeping this collection are, and how likely that the difference in price will be significant enough to be worth saving them until then.

Are they taking up too much space? Do you desperately need the money? I have no idea how much the will appreciate, but I don't see the point in selling them now.

I will buy them for pennies on the dollar. I am debating what to do with my coin collection. I had fun with it as a kid, but now it doesn't make as much sense to keep a basically valueless coin collection that simply takes up space.
