While I'm sure there are factors contributing the their being out of work for more than six months like the field that they worked in, the area they live in etc that are beyond there control....there are probably other factors involved like not being willing to take certain jobs, not being as qualified as others who have been re-hired, not being willing to upgrade their skill set, etc, etc, So I hate the idea of employers skimming over new applicants and looking harder at applicants from 6+ months ago because they'll get an incentive for hiring one of the older ones.

I didn't watch Obama's speech simply because the past two presidents, and all the congress changes and everything I have totally completely lost faith in our government to do anything effective. I truly believe that public office as it was intended has been lost and it is now full of people pushing agendas that they see as fit, rather than facing their constiuents and finding out their needs. I am an American, and I'm grateful for the opportunities provided to me, but I have lost faith in my government. Therefore, watching speeches from people I don't believe in is pointless.
