Ping pong table in apartment?

No clue where to put this, so I'm just going to come right out and ask you guys.

Have you ever put a table tennis table in your apartment? Or lived next to, above, or below someone who did? I'd really like to do this at my new place, but I'm concerned that the noise might be a problem.

I think it sounds like an inspired idea...probably not a whole lot louder than a pool table and I know lots of people who have those. I guess the bigger question would be what your neighbors are like (young people? families, older people?) and where you're at in the building. I think thouh as long as you don't plan on playing at like 2am, you should be OK

When I have a house, I definitely plan to have a rec room with a pool table, ping pong table, and air hockey table.

I almost put a hot tub in my dorm room. True story.

Then I realized... I don't have a hot tub.

I agree with this ^^^.

I would do it in your place . Just don't use it way late and I feel like it won't be an issue. It will make some noise, but that's to be expected, right? Definitely understand the desire to be courteous; however, if they have a legitimate issue with it, they'll talk to you and you guys can work something out is my thought. I'd think it's the same issue as a big sound system or a drum kit. Not a bad idea, just must be done properly.

Dude, you could do it for sure! As mentioned above, don't play at ridiculous times. IT shouldn't make to much noise.

It can't be any worse than my 40lb dog hopping all over the place, playing fetch. I've asked the neighbors, and they say they never hear her.

I've done foosball and it was awesome. But avoid playing too late at night if you like to yell when playing, like I did...

id say it depends on the apartment. I have lived in apartments where my neighbors didn't give a crap if I had a full metal band playing. I also have lived in places where a loudish tv was a horrible thing.
I also think if it is second or third floor it could be a bigger deal than if you are on the first. I have known someone who has one in the kitchen/dining room and it was no big deal, but it is a fairly hang loose apartment.
