Hollowbody/semi- Basses

Well, due to my bass being stolen I'm in the market for a bass. I've already decided that I want to get a hollowbody bass. My budget is in the 300-400 range. I'm looking at the Hofner Icon or possibly one of those Jay Tursers. Any suggestions/advise?

I personally liked the Epiphone Viola, amongst the Beatle Basses... Guitar Center has em in that price range... SOmetimes even $250.... (I got mine at GC for $249)...

Well, tried the Hofner at the Guitar Center in Greenville on the way home from Georgia and liked it a lot. The reason I'm not saying loved is because it had some sort of crappy roundwound strings on it. The Hofner I tried years ago had flats on it and I REALLY freaking loved it. This can all be fixed though...

Also the guy told me that there's a 15% off coupon that is good for their labor day sale thingy they've got going on tomorrow that I can get, so I might just be riding up there tomorrow and coming back with a new bass!

Let me just say that it should be a sin to put cheese grater roundwounds on a hollowbody bass. Switched to a pair if Rotosound 77's and dang! I'm in love!

Think I finally got the hang of the controls. Kind of weirded me out at first.

I'd look for a Used Epiphone Jack Cassidy. They go for $799 new, and if you hunt you should be able to find one used in your price range. I've played a few and I've been impressed. I have a good buddy at church (he's actually in the FreeCreditScore.com band) who has one and sounds great with it. In the $3-400 price range you are much better off buying a good used bass then what may end up to be a mediocre new bass.

I think you're a little late.
