i've never used an M13 but i would like to try one out for sure
wah and volume are essential

wah and volume are essential | I've probably learned about 1% of what it can do and I've had it for a few months. Granted, I'm very new to electric guitar, but I've found it can really help out the overall sound of our worship team especially being the only electric guitar. I'm getting to where I can create similar sounds to just about any modern worship song, but crafted for our group.
I probably use anywhere from 4-12 effects on any given Sunday morning. Why? Because I can! The M13 makes it ridiculously easy to over-use effects, so I'm trying to make sure what I do is within reason and tasteful. Some of the really crazy effects aren't really practical, but I'm working on a little segment right now that's the intro to the song "Take Me Into the Beautiful" by Cloverton. They have some kind of synth recording or track or something that plays just before they sing, and I've found a combination of effects that mimics that little recording.
I'm convinced that the M13 can do just about anything, its just a matter of figuring out how. Kinda like Microsoft Excel... |

Excellent idea, has been taken way too far, 99% of the time it's utter crap, and if you don't know what you are doing, you *will* shoot yourself in the foot.

| I list my pedals as I have(or will place them once I buy a pedal board) in my signal chain.
Wah: I'll use it as a filter where I just kick it on and leave it, I use it to simulate a talk box and I try to use it like you normaly see people use wah but this isn't my strong point. I also use it as a noise maker.
Phaser: I have a Wylde Phase(Zakk Wylde sig Phase 90) I set the one knob at 10 oclock and I'll just kick it on for whole songs. I also combine it with my chorus pedal for a really cool flanger like effect.
distortion: I have the leval at 12 oclock, I just try to match the pedals volume to the amp. The tone is around 10 oclock and the dist is at 2 oclock. I use my dits pedal when I can't crank my amp loud enough to really push the tubes combined with my main OD pedal to get my preferred dirty tone.
Main OD: The tone is set at 10-11 oclock, leval is at around 10 oclock(againI just try to match the amps volume) and the drive is maxed out.
2nd OD: I added my Boss: SD1 Super OVerdrive back into my rig just to add a little extra dirt to my tone for more of a clasic rock sounding dirty tone. The tone is at 12 oclock, leval is at 10 oclock( again I try to match the amp) and for this OD i set the drive at 12 oclock. I'll more than likely replace this with a second Wylde OD later on but now I'm using the SD1 because I already had it lying around.
Chorus: I like to use my chorus in stereo when I can because I think the pedal just sound better running in stereo than it does in mono. I basicly use it for all of my clean stuff unless it just sounds out of place then I kick it off. I'll also use with dist/od pedal for a song or two and on one song I use it with my phaser.
Down the road I want to add a delay pedal, tremlo pedal and maybe a reverb pedal. I think that how I use my pedals for the most part, if I think of other ways I use them I add it. |
