I'm always talking about good amps. There's amps I've bought that were good but not great. One example is a Marshall 6100 head I had for a while. It sounded good and had a pretty wide range of tone but I felt that some of the other amps I had sounded better for certain tones I was using the 6100 for. I sold it and bought my 67 twin which ended being better than my RI twin for clean tones. I'm not really able to form an opinion on an amp until I've owned it for a while and used it in different situations to see how it feels.
My basic requirements could be characterized as a search for amps that either sound better than something I already have or widen my tone options.
This requirement is deeply rooted in my own opinion and usually ends in me selling the amp I tried or selling the amp it replaces. Coincidently, eBay is a good tool for the exercise and I generally am able to "swap" amps in such a way that I don't have pour tons of money into my habit.
