One more thing...
Would it be smart to not get any of the cage options and only get the chassis? | I have one I got used, and one bare chassis. With the bare chassis, just set it on your cab like a head and dont bash it around. It would not take much to build a head cab for it.
Bare chassis is fine. These are not something you find used often at all. I saw one in this series for sale used ever and I bought it off ebay. But the bare chassis one is 100 under your budget to boot.
I use an avatar 1x12 with an alnico gold or a 2x12 lopoline that I play with what speakers are in it routinely. Oddly, a cheap cab that sounded pretty good with it was a blackheart 1x12. Obviously a celestion gold is out of budget, but I would think a weber blue dog or something would be real nice.

| I've looked into the Avatar cabs and they just seem too expensive for me at the moment. I've seen a couple used ones on my local CL a while ago. Do people sell them frequently on eBay?

An unloaded 1x12 or 2x12 is not that expensive.

| So, after looking at different cabs here's what I've found:
1. The Blackheart cab is in the price range but that ugly logo just turns me off
2. The only Avatars that I have found in the area are A) 2x12s, which I don't want, or B) Celestion golds
3. In Chicago, I found one that someone is asking $150 for with a V30 in it, but I really don't know how I'm going to get there
4. If buying an Avatar new, I would definitely want something with low wattage for more speaker breakup
5. Lopoline just seems too expensive at this point
Tell me what you think.

Tell me what you think. | 1) it unscrews with 2 screws. It can be gone in 30 seconds.
2) Interesting
3) It might be worth a trip.
4) Why? Speaker breakup can sound mighty farty and often ratings are fudged a little. IOWs, a 15 watt amp should be able to produce 15 watts without distorting. Once your distortion is raging it can be substantially higher. Speakers are often rated with a max rating under optimum conditions and higher sells better as a rule so a lot of people leave a rather decent margin between the amp and speaker ratings.
5) Odd, they run a bit cheaper than avatar and have more color selections generally.

Speaker wattage ratings need to be far higher than your amp rating. You want your speakers to be working hard, but not failing, because excessive speaker breakup definitely sounds like farts. |

| Just addressing the speaker cab question....I say build your own. In fact there is a current thread someone just started on DYI projects. I will be having a 1x12 cab my self some time in the next 12 months or so and this is the route I will be taking. There's all kinds of good instructional videos on youtube and there's a ton of knowledgeable and experienced guys here. Depending on speaker choice (as well as going new or used) and how professional and "finished" you want the cab to look you could do this for as $75.00. |

| Found something locally and want your input: 1965 Vox Cambridge Reverb Tube Amp
It looks like a nice vintage amp. Does anyone know anything about this amp?

| Update: I've decided to get either a Frenzel Lil AC15 or a Line 6 DT50. The DT50 just seems like a really nice amp that would end my needs once and for all. I'm going to try it out the next time I go to my local music store that carries it. I also figured out that they carry the JTV, so I might try that out as well.

| I have the 2x12 DeVille and a POD 2.0 and get a great sound for all types of music. I will give more credit to the POD than the amp. But, the amp is loud! |
